Successful import of GGPs into Australia

In the summer of 2024, the team at Cherry Valley worked alongside Australia's favourite, and leading duck producer, Luv-a-Duck, to organise and arrange a successful import of GGP eggs into Australia.

Luv-a-Duck has grown to become Australia's leading duck producer, now based in Port Melbourne, but starting from humble beginnings as family-owned and made.

Luv-a-Duck and Cherry Valley have had a long-term relationship, with organised imports of Great Grandparent Eggs into their business to supply the latest generation of Cherry Valley SM3 birds. This has allowed them to achieve an earlier kill age, better FCR, and better meat yield from their commercial birds.

Cherry Valley also provides a selection and regeneration program, to allow them to maintain an effective population, and genetic diversity, whilst retaining the superior performance of the latest SM3 generation.

Luv-a-Duck will use Cherry Valley's SM3 Medium strain, with the commercial stock having a slaughter live weight of 3.45kg and an FCR of 1.92, whilst the parent stock will produce 296 eggs in a 50-week laying cycle.

The team at Cherry Valley UK wishes continued success for Luv-a-Duck, and hopes our relationship continues for years to come.
