Cherry Valley cherishes each and every bird produced on our farms. We are dedicated to the health and well-being of the ducks we breed, rear, and transport around the world.

How do we Cherish?

Cherry Valley's staff are passionate about the health and well-being of our birds. Our welfare policy is based on the Five Freedoms. All birds are checked at least twice daily, to ensure welfare standards are maintained.

Biosecurity is paramount in any welfare plan. Cherry Valley has strict biosecurity requirements include: rodent and wild-bird proof houses, site dedicated clothing, and a showering-in process.

Climate-controlled duck barns protect our ducks from temperature extremes and provide an environment safe from predators and disease. Barns are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between flocks.

Our birds have free access to fresh water and food. Food provides all the nutrients required to keep birds healthy and well maintained. No antibiotics or hormones are used, ever, for growth promotion.

Reviewing Reports at Desk

We undertake frequent internal and external audits to ensure we are keeping standards above and beyond of what is required. Some of the schemes we work with are; Red Tractor, Poultry Health Service (PHS), and Code EFABAR.

Our selection programs focus on improving welfare traits in each new generation, such as improved gait, feather score and footpad quality.

Freedom from Hunger and Thirst

Our birds are sustainably raised in spacious barns and given access to fresh drinking water and a diet to maintain full health and vigour
