Our employees are what make Cherry Valley the food supplier market leader it is today. Their happiness, job satisfaction and expertise are top priorities - all can be demonstrated by the our high levels of employee retention and high years of service.
We employ over 600 people in the surrounding Lincolnshire Wolds area – whether working on our farms, our state of the art hatchery, our BRC accredited manufacturing facility or Head office.
We are of course an equal opportunity employer and provide all our employees with the training they need. In manufacturing for instance, as well as compulsory standard operating procedure training, employees can study for various Food related NVQs up to level 3 – all of which we fund ourselves!
Spend five minutes talking to any staff member and it soon becomes apparent that they are not only passionate about producing quality duckling, but also about the welfare of the birds. Richard Genney, contract Livestock Manager, explains:
I have been with the company now for 38 years and my primary aim is to monitor the welfare and quality of the birds to ensure that the ducks brought to the Chinese restaurant and table have the incredible flavour that consumers associate with Cherry Valley in both restaurants and ready meals.
My typical day involves checking the conditions that the ducks are kept in, including litter cleanliness, water and feed and temperature, which are paramount to the health of the birds. We really do nurture the birds, from ducklings at 1-2 days old, through the growing process to production to ensure the high standards we insist on are maintained. We all work together to guarantee we have healthy, clean and happy ducks!
For me it’s not a job, it’s a way of life and working at Cherry Valley is special because of the people. Everyone works hard and everyone wants to do the job well. And because we all care about our birds, we have forged close working relationships and created our very own Cherry Valley family!
